First and foremost -
Make sure that your headset is properly connected to your computer.
If it's a USB headset, insert the USB plug into an available USB port; your PC will then automatically detect and configure the headset.
If it's a headset with separate audio and microphone jacks, ensure that the plugs are correctly inserted into the corresponding ports on your computer.
Note, however, that there may be two different options here.
1. Headset with a two-part aux jack:
This headset has two separate plugs: one for audio (often green) and one for the microphone (often pink).
The audio plug is used to transmit sound from the headset to the computer or device, while the microphone plug is used to send sound from the headset's microphone to the device.
2. Headset with a single aux jack:
This headset has only one plug that combines both audio and microphone. It's usually a 4-pole jack that transmits both audio and microphone signals through the same connection.
This is often referred to as a 3.5mm TRRS jack (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve), where Tip is audio, the first Ring is the microphone, the second Ring is ground, and Sleeve is the connector housing.
I can hear sound in my headset, but I can't speak. What do I do?
If this is the case, it may be because you have a headset where audio and microphone are combined in one jack, and your case separates audio and microphone into two outputs.
How can you determine if the above is the cause?
Headset: If your jack has only one plug at the end with 3 stripes on the metal part, audio and microphone are combined, and this might be part of the issue.
Case: On the top of your case, you can check for 2 outputs for the jack - 1 for the microphone and 1 for audio (typically displayed with icons).
This applies to most cases in our product range.
Solution to the problem:
If your headset combines audio and microphone in one jack, you will need to use a splitter to enable both audio and voice functionalities.
NZXT cases:
If you have an NZXT case, there's only 1 jack output on the top, and if you want to use this output for your headset, you'll need to use the splitter provided with your computer purchase.
However, you can also use the outputs at the back of your computer on the motherboard. Here, there are two separate outputs - 1 for audio and 1 for the microphone.
