I cancelled my order, but the amount is still reserved

If you have cancelled your order but can still see that the amount is reserved on your account, this is normal and related to how card payments work.


Why is the money still reserved?

When you pay with Visa, Mastercard, or other payment cards, the bank first creates a temporary authorization hold to make sure the funds are available. This means the money has not been withdrawn, but is only reserved on your account.

If the order is cancelled, the payment will not be completed, but the reservation may still appear on your account for a short period.


How long does it take?

The time it takes for the reservation to disappear depends on your bank and card type.

Typically:

  • 1 to 5 business days in most cases
  • In some cases up to 30 days, depending on the bank’s policies

The reservation will normally be released automatically by your bank.


Can SharkGaming remove the reservation?

No. The reservation is controlled by your bank or card issuer, so we are not able to remove it. We can only cancel the order itself.


What can you do?

  • Wait for the bank to automatically release the reservation
  • Contact your bank if you would like the reservation removed sooner
